About Purple Dogfish
Established in 2003, we set out to build beautiful, accessible, standards compliant websites.
Although our industry is regarded with some suspicion by many people (how many ‘web designers’ appear and disappear within 6 months) we’ve built up a client base who we work with over and over again – many of whom use more than one of our services – and we’re proud to say that the vast majority of our work comes from client recommendation.
We’re not flash, we’re not brash, we’ll tell you all about the DDA and web accessibility without using scare tactics, and our policy is that of simplicity, honesty and accountability. You tell us what you want, we’ll tell you how much it costs and then we’ll deliver it. We might even exceed your expectations whilst we’re at it.
How We Work
Once we understand your requirements and your target audience we provide you with a number of design ideas then refine your favourite before building it or getting it ready for print. Once we start work we keep a timesheet of the time we spend, so if we over-estimate then you only pay for the time we’ve worked.
Who we are
Purple Dogfish are Greg and Rachael. With help from Skateboard.
Colleagues
We have a network of carefully selected colleagues who we work with on a regular basis. They include:
- Folio Typographics – we’ve collaborated with Ness on a number of projects now – she’s a superb graphic designer
- Sam Hook – Sam and Glen are Purelight – we use Sam and Glen for a lot of our photography requirements
- The Boss Corporation – Mike arranges lease finance for clients who want to spread the cost of their websites over a number of years
Other people and things we like
- Lime One – Sue and her team provide all PD’s legal things
- Kashflow – we recently switched over to running all our accounts on Kashflow as it allows us to generate invoices without printing. This is an affiliate link which entitles you to a quid a month discount.
- ExpressionEngine – We’re members of the EE Pro Network and use ExpressionEngine for 99% of our sites. We also build custom plugins and extensions.
- moo.com – Jolly nice print solutions
- Shopify e-commerce software – We’ve been hugely impressed by shopify and their support is really very good.
